The American Chemistry Council (ACC) today reaffirmed its efforts to support the Consumer Product Safety Commission as it works to   implement the many directives included in the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (H.R. 4040).

ACC Vice President of Products Divisions, Sharon Kneiss, issued the following statement:

“Public health and safety are our highest priorities. ACC reaffirms our commitment to working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) as it moves forward to enforce this complex new law and bring clarity to the many testing and compliance issues involved. We will continue to encourage manufacturers to fully comply with the February 10th effective date of the phthalates restrictions contained in the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). We also are committed to working with the CPSC's Chronic Hazard Advisory Panel over the coming months to determine safety standards for phthalates in children’s products.

“ACC will continue to provide robust information in a transparent manner on the chemicals we produce and demonstrate the sound science behind the safety profile of our products. The American people must have confidence in how the Federal Government regulates chemicals to protect public health and safety.”
