The forth "IFAN in China" will be held in Shenzhen on 18-19 June 2009.

CAS (Chinese Association for Standardization, IFAN member for China) holds the workshop "IFAN in China" on an annual basis. Past workshops have been held on the subjects "Application of standards in China and beyond", "Application of standards for equipment - manufacturing industry" and "Adoption of international standards". The workshops were held respectively in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen in October 2006, May 2007 and June 2008. This year, CAS is organizing the workshop on the subject "Social responsibility and product quality" and it will be held in Shenzhen on 18-19 June 2009.

Chinese managers and experts in standardization from Chinese industry will participate in the workshop. IFAN members are also invited to take part in it. For the latest version of the draft workshop programme

DRAFT PROGRAMME FOR THE 4TH WORKSHOP
“SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND PRODUCT QUALITY”

General

    The last three IFAN IN CHINA workshops hold successfully in China, which provide a good
platform of communications and experience sharing for all participates. The 4th workshop “Social
Responsibility and Product Quality” now is scheduled on 18-19 June 2009 in Shenzhen (China).
CAS will be the host of workshop and take charge of organization of activity.

Subject
The topic of the workshop is “Social Responsibility and Product Quality”. In the past 2008,
people were shocked by the toxic baby milk scandal in China. As a part of the world, the social
responsibility of the enterprise and how to keep the products quality uniform with standardization
are being regarded more and more important and will also be discussed as the topic of this
workshop. The contents of the workshop include the social responsibility and in the financial crisis,
the current situation of how corporations in China involve in the activities of standardization,
especially of quality, experience and information sharing of activities of standardization.

Participants
International: IFAN members who are interesting in this workshop, senior experts and managers of
standardization from enterprises.
Chinese: SAC、CAS、National Development and Reform Commission, and managers of
standardization from leading enterprises of equipment-manufacturing industry in China.

Scope and Form
This workshop will invite enterprises mostly. The number of participants is supposed to be
120—150.
