The Technical and Commercial Regulations Commission of Peru
The Technical and Commercial Regulations Commission was created in 1992 as one of Indecopi’s functional organ, under the name of the Supervision of Technical Standards, Metrology, Quality Control and Para-Tariff Restrictions Commission, according to article 26 of the Indecopi Organization and Operations Act (Law Decree 25868). Subsequently, in April, 1996, by Legislative Decree 807, the Technical and Commercial Regulations Commission has been recognized as the National Standardization and Accreditation Body.
Standardization
Standardization consists in formulating, disseminating and applying resolutions or standards that must be complied with, in the presence of constantly repeated problems or situations, in order to obtain a fair and equitable order and process.
The Technical and Commercial Regulations Commission, as the National Standardization Body, approves the Peruvian Technical Standards, recommended by all the sectors, and the Peruvian Metrological Standards, while making them available to all those interested though Indecopi’s Information and Documentation Center.

Accreditation
Accreditation is the process by which an authorized body formally recognizes that an organization is competent to carry out a determined conformity assessment activity (such as carrying out calibration tests, providing inspection services and certifying products, processes or personnel). The Accreditation Bodies ensure, by means of independent or impartial evaluations, that the conformity assessment entities are properly prepared to carry out their work and can facilitate domestic as well as international commercial activities.
The accreditation bodies, such as the Technical and Commercial Regulations Commission of Indecopi (as National Accreditation Body) carry out their work according to international standards in order to guarantee a transparent and equitable assessment. Therefore, all Conformity Assessment bodies accredited in different countries perform their work homogeneously, allowing mutual acceptance of obtained results.
To support accreditation activities, Indecopi has an Accreditation Committee and an Accreditation Consultancy Council. The Council has been formed so that all parties interested in accreditation have the opportunity to participate. The Council supports the Commission with the adoption of policies that ensure impartial accreditation activities; it cooperates with the oversight of its accreditation interventions; and, it issues recommendations and suggestions regarding the Accreditation System operation and in those subjects the Commission submits for its considerat- Ranking This Month
