U.S. wants input on surface water quality
The state is looking for public input on where officials should focus their efforts to protect surface water quality over the next three years.
The state Department of Natural Resources wants opinions on 23 water quality standards for Wisconsin lakes and rivers.
The standards address things like levels of dissolved oxygen, nutrients, toxic pollutants, bacteria, and policies regulating activities that may have an impact on water quality.
Water Quality Specialist Kristi Minahan says the DNR wants to revise some standards because of new information about the effect of certain contaminants or to reflect changes in federal or state regulations.
