The World Standard for the Transportation of Live Animals by Air
The IATA Live Animals Regulations (LAR) is a worldwide standard and an essential manual for staying current with how to ship animals by air in a safe and cost-effective manner.
Whether you are a shipper, a freight forwarder, an airline, a passenger travelling with pets or an animal care professional, the LAR is your guide for transporting animals humanely and in compliance with airline regulations and animal welfare standards.
Key Benefits
- Access a comprehensive source of information about containers used for most animal
species
- Ensure welfare and safety of animals being transported by air
- Ensure your animal transportation procedures comply with international or local
regulations
- Save time and money by guaranteeing your shipments are problem-free and avoid delays
The 2008 edition of the LAR includes the most recent regulatory country and airline variations, modified container requirements as well as latest CITES animal classifications.
Freight forwarders, shippers and ground handlers will find this manual useful for ensuring compliance with ever increasing regulatory mandates. Section 3.3 provides users with updated airline contact information and links to specialised carrier product web pages.
The Live Animal Regulations are enforced by the European Union, the US Fish and Wildlife Service and generally meet or exceed the intent of the US Animal Welfare Act (AWA). The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) also officially recognise these regulations for the transport of animals by air.
Produced annually in English, French and Spanish, all LAR versions are available on CD-ROM and include many ease-of-use features – such as enhanced navigation, sorting and search features, a special report feature, the most recent CITES appendences as well as useful forms and links.
