Korean products to be directly exported to Saudi Arabia

On June 12, KATS and Saudi Arabia Standard Organization (SASO) signed a Mutual Recognition Program for mutual acceptance of test results and product certificates issued by respective certification bodies.

With the Program, the test results and product certificates issued according to international standards or standards of respective countries by certification bodies designated by KATS or SASO are accepted in respective countries without having to go through additional procedures.

Korean companies that export products to Saudi Arabia no longer have to take multiple and overlapping tests, which will not only reduce testing costs but also shorten the time for receiving certificates.

KATS will first register testing laboratories under the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS) and certification bodies for major export items such as electrical and industrial products, and will further expand the scope of the Program later on in collaboration with relevant government ministries.
